Grey hair has upto 17 times more cuticle layers and needs treating professionally. Matrix Beauty - permanent colour, includes a range called 500 series especially for this problem. Using the correct application, timing and peroxide this product breaks through the cuticles to deposit colour molecules and leaves hair shiney and toned.
Hair at the Park would advise you use a good quality shampoo for coloured hair. This protects the colour molecules from escaping with the shampoo, when rinsed off. Followed by a good quality conditioner to smooth down the cuticles.
If you worry about root regrowth, try foils. If attempting to grow out the tint to admit defeat and accept what can be striking white hair underneath, then we would advise to go from root coverage to foils and gradually blend grey hair with finer and finer foils until. . . . yes you've done it you're a no tint client.
